Sleuths pretended to be tenants to nab tainted prof

-

As the special operations group (SOG) closed in on busting the racket involved in leaking question papers, it had a difficult task at hand.

Several of the accused are wellrespected professors and lecturers of the University of Rajasthan, who the police wanted to arrest discreetly, without giving them any prior inkling of what was to come.

It was at this time that the SOG officials came up with an ingenious plan to arrest professor Jagdish Prasad Jat, who is the head of the department of geography, University of Rajasthan.

“On Monday morning, an additional superintendent of police went to Jat’s house pretending to be a person who wanted to take a room on rent. A female sub inspector accompanied him as his daughter,” said a senior SOG official.

As Jat was busy talking about the rent and other matters with his ‘potential tenants’ other special operations group officials were searching his car and premises of the house.

“A little while later, I told Jat that my son-in-law was waiting outside and wanted to speak to him. A deputy superintendent of police from my team was the one posing as my son-in-law,” said the official who posed as the tenant.

As Jat came out of his house, the ‘son-in-law’ arrested him and took him to the SOG headquarters where Jat was shocked to see that his potential tenant and his daughter were actually police officials. HTC
