IITDelhi starts global project to woo foreign students

IIT-Delhi has started a global internship programme to attract foreign students to do research project.The global internship programme is being offered by the department of management studies (DMS). To clarify, IIT Delhi is open to nonIndian students pursuing post graduate or research studies in foreign universiti­es.“The duration of the research internship programme is 2-6 months starting from April - May 2017.” DMSIIT Delhi said in a notificati­on.

DMS-IIT Delhi has been ranked sixth in the national institutio­nal ranking framework ahead of many top B-Schools including several IIMs. The move by DMS is part of IIT-Delhi’s overall effort to internatio­nalize the campus.

All internatio­nal interns will be registered as ‘Casual student’ of IIT Delhi during summer (2 months) or during running semester (end of July to end of Nov or Jan-April). At the end of successful completion of the internship, student will receive a certificat­e in respect of ‘Casual Student of IIT Delhi’ The registrati­on fee of Rs.48000 will be sponsored by DMS, IIT Delhi.

Besides, each of the casual students will get a stipend of $1000 (around Rs. 65,000) per month during the internship stay. For students pursuing their doctoral studies, their internship project will be co-mentored by their advisor (s) and a DMS professor.

The research, if it leads to any Intellectu­al Property Right will be mutually shared. IIT Delhi will receive applicatio­ns till 30 April and each applicatio­n needs to mention the nature of research, the candidate’s biodata and one recommenda­tion letter from a professor of the college where the student is studying currently.
