Assembly adjourned over Alwar lynching, minor’s rape in Sikar
SEEKING A CBI PROBE IN THE ALWAR ATTACK, LEADER OF OPPOSITION, RAMESHWAR DUDI, ALLEGED THAT TWO HINDU RIGHTWING GROUPS WERE INVOLVED
The state assembly witnessed an uproar on Monday over the killing of Pehlu Khan by alleged cow vigilantes, leading to its adjournment for an hour as the Opposition entered the Well.
The Opposition, during the zero hour, raised the issue of deteriorating law and order in the state, citing Khan’s lynching in Alwar and rape of a minor in Sikar district of Rajasthan.
Demanding a CBI probe in the Alwar attack, Leader of Opposition, Rameshwar Dudi, alleged that members of two Hindu rightwing groups were involved in it.
Dudi claimed home minister Gulab Chand Kataria had called Pehlu Khan a cow smuggler.
Replying to Dudi, the mome minister said anyone without a valid permit is a smuggler.
“Law is equal for everyone and people who are working against the law will not be forgiven,” he added.
Pehlu Khan and four others were allegedly attacked by cow vigilantes in Alwar while they were on their way to Haryana after purchasing cattle in Rajasthan’s Ramgarh on April 1.
Calling rape incidents unfortunate, Kataria said all efforts are being done to improve law and order situation. “Rajasthan is the state where crime is constantly on the decline,” he said.
Deputy Speaker Rao Rajendra Singh told the Congress members that they should stay assured that the government will take action against those responsible. The Congress MLAs, however, were not satisfied with Kataria’s reply and trooped down to the Well.
As the din continued, the deputy speaker adjourned the House for an hour.
The ongoing assembly session is an extended part of the budget session, called specially to clear GST and other legislative bills.
