After highspeed chase, cops nab minor, 3 others for looting cab driver

The Jaipur police have arrested four people, including a juvenile, for posing as passengers and looting a taxi. The four also manhandled the driver.

Deputy commission­er of police (West) Ashok Gupta said that the incident took place on Sunday, following which a special team of officials was constitute­d to nab the accused.

Gupta said that one of the teams received a tip-off that a seasoned criminal, Man Singh alias Manu Bana, was seen with some of his associates in a car on Sunday night. After an investigat­ion, the police found that Singh has been missing from his accommodat­ion from Sunday, the day the incident took place.

Officials said that after a manhunt for Singh and his associates were started, a car and a few motorcycle­s were seen moving at a high speed near Sitawali Phatak. The police followed the vehicles and after chasing them for a while, caught up with them, said Gupta.

The DCP added that after stopping the vehicles, the police arrested Singh and his associates — Sonu Saini, Jeevraj Singh and a boy, who is a minor.

After interrogat­ion, they confessed to the crime and told the cops about the things they had forcibly taken away from the driver were also recovered from them, said officials.

The police said that the accused wanted to replace the number plate of the car with a fake one and wanted to sell the car parts in the black market.

The accused have also confessed that they are drug addicts and had looted the car in order to get money for buying drugs, said the police.

Singh has several criminal cases registered against him in around seven police stations in and around Jaipur.

THE ACCUSED HAVE CONFESSED THAT THEY ARE DRUG ADDICTS AND HAD LOOTED THE CAR IN ORDER TO GET MONEY FOR BUYING DRUGS, SAID THE POLICE.
