Sukma attack: Protestors seek Rajnath’s suspension
Two days after 25 CRPF personnel were killed in an attack by the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, people in Bharatpur held a demonstration demanding Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s suspension.
People shouted slogans against the central government and burnt Singh’s effigy here on Wednesday. Farmer and college students handed over a memorandum for President Pranab Mukherjee to district collector Narendra Kumar Gupta demanding suspension of the union home minister, who has failed to carry out his duty.
“The people of the country have given the BJP to power with the hope that they will get rid of terrorism, but the central government has been unable to take action against terrorists, crossborder infiltrators and Maoists,” said Lokesh Loharah, a student leader from Maharani Shri Jaya college.
The farmers, led by Nem Singh, argued that the government suspends a district collector or superintendent of police if they fail to maintain law and order. In this incident, 25 CRPF personnel have been killed by Maoists it shows that the union home minister has failed to maintain security in the country.
“Political leaders don’t allow their son to join the army and paramilitary forces. Ministers should make their family members join the armed forces only then will they understand what the martyrs’ families go through,” said Singh.
