A bandh was held in Behror on Wednesday demanding a stop on police raids and arrest of “innocent” people in the Pehlu Khan case.

Raath Sangarsh Samiti, which had called for the bandh, claims that innocent people are being targeted. “The FIR mentions the involvement of 200 people in the case. Money is changing hands to remove names of accused from the list. Innocent people are being targeted,” alleged Basti Ram Yadav a member of the Raath Sangarsh Samiti.

Pehlu Khan and four others were attacked in Behror town in Alwar by a mob of cow vigilantes while they were on their way to Haryana after purchasing cattle from Jaipur on April 1. 55-yearold Khan succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on April 3.

The police are yet to arrest six people named in Khan’s dying declaration. A video of the incident had gone viral on the social media.

The band on Wednesday passed peacefully and all political parties and other organisations lend their support to the bandh. All shops were closed. A memorandum was handed over to Behror sub-divisional magistrate Suresh Yadav.

“In the case, the police have named six persons in the FIR who were neither present on the spot nor have been seen in the video.

ALL POLITICAL PARTIES HAVE SUPPORTED THE BANDH. ALL SHOPS WERE CLOSED. A MEMORANDUM HAS BEEN HANDED OVER TO THE SUBDIVISIONAL MAGISTRATE

The reality is that the police reached the spot an hour after the attack. Later, they admitted Pehlu Khan to a hospital where there are no chest or heart experts. The police were insensitive. They did not take him to Jaipur for further treatment. If they had done so Pehlu Khan could have been saved,” alleged Yadav.

State BJP president Ashok Parnami, who was in Alwar on Wednesday, said that an impartial inquiry is being conducted in the Pehlu Khan murder case by the Alwar police and everything will be clear after the probe.

Parnami also added that he was in support of neither the Behror bandh nor BJP MLA Gyan Deo Ahuja’s statement in which he had demanded that the Alwar lynching probe be handed over to the criminal investigation department.
