Yasir Shah spins Pakistan to win Kingston Test

Pakistan made light work of wrapping up a sevenwicket win over West Indies at Sabina Park on Tuesday.

West Indies resumed on 93-4 on day five of the first Test, but any hopes of stiff resistance leading them to a draw or even an unlikely victory quickly vanished.

Though Roston Chase displayed some grit with an unbeaten 16 off 50 balls, those around him were much less able to scrap and the hosts were all out for 152 - a paltry second-innings lead of 31.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah cleaned up the tail on his way to figures of 6-63, a ninth five-for in the longest format, after Wahab Riaz (1-29) had put a rapid victory into sharp focus by tempting Windies captain Jason Holder into nicking behind for 14 when he had looked to put Pakistan on the back foot with quickfire boundaries.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s unbeaten 99 had set up Pakistan in the first innings and, though they needed just 32 for victory, there was still time for Azhar Ali (1) and Ahmed Shehzad (6) to round off underwhelming respective Tests by falling cheaply.

Captain Misbah was suitably perplexed when Younis Khan and Babar Azam (9) took a lunch break 19 runs from their target, and he may well have been irritated further when Younis followed up reaching 10,000 Test runs by getting trapped lbw for six by Devendra Bishoo to bring the skipper to the crease.

tions on the ball, and Bishoo, taking a look at one of the leg-spinner’s deliveries before belting the next two over the rope to bring a short, yet strange, chase to a brutal close.
