SCHOOL AND PUBLIC LIBRARIES WILL BE UPGRADED AS MODEL ONES BY THE NEXT ACADEMIC SESSION
and public libraries will be upgraded as model ones by the next academic session, state education minister Vasudev Devnani said on Thursday.
The education department will use ₹3.41crore to provide quality books to school libraries and develop reading facilities, Devnani said.
“Under library development, a provision of ₹3000 has been made for each of the 8,880 primary schools in the state. Similarly, ₹10,000 will be provided to each of 751 upper primary schools,” the minister said.
The language and library department will upgrade 33 public libraries in districts, including the central library in Jaipur. “For the same, ₹1 crore provision has been made for the central library, ₹50 lakh for libraries in districts, and ₹25 lakh for libraries at block level -- around 290 in the state,” Devnani said.
After introducing parentteacher meets, the education department will start alumni meets at government schools – on the lines of private schools. “The preparation for the same has been started; a platform of ex-students will be developed at secondary and higher secondary schools, through which the meets will be organised,” the minister said.
“The ex-students will be called and their suggestions will be taken for school development. The ex-students, who have proved to be successful in life, will share their success tips.”
Many people are doing well in fields such as politics, engineering, and as IAS, IPS and RAS officers, doctors, chartered accountants and businessmen, he said. “If such people associate themselves with schools, then students will get benefit of their experience, which also will inspire them,” the minister said.
The expenditure to organise alumni meets will be met through school development or student funds.
