WOMAN WHO HONEYTRAPPED JAIPUR DOCTOR HELD IN MUMBAI

-

The SOG on Monday arrested a 21-year-old Mumbai woman, who was allegedly a part of a gang which had trapped Jaipur-based doctor Suneet Soni and extorted money from him by registering a false case of rape.

According to the police, the woman, who is from Jaipur, was working as a disc jockey in Mumbai at the time of her arrest.

Inspector general of police (SOG) Dinesh MN said that the woman has been identified as Shikha Tiwari and has been absconding since December 2016.

According to the police, the gang had identified Soni as a potential victim and then sent Tiwari as a honeytrap to his clinic. She had posed as a patient.

The IG said that after a few visits, Tiwari pressurised Soni to take her to Pushkar. Soni booked a room at a resort in Pushkar and dropped Tiwari at the resort. He then went back to Jaipur.

The police said that Tiwari then called him and asked him to come back as she was unwell.

Soni drove back to Pushkar and after staying the night came back to Jaipur, said the officials.

Later, Soni was contacted by Akshat and Vijay Sharma, members of the gang, who threatened him by saying that Tiwari will lodge a case of rape against him. After a few days, the case was lodged and Soni was arrested. Later, Tiwari turned hostile after the gang extorted ₹1 crore from the doctor’s family. The SOG had busted the gang in December and it is estimated to have extorted more than ₹25 crore from 30 influential people so far. HTC
