was signed for setting up of a soya-processing unit in Baran on the last day of the event, taking the total MoUs signed during GRAM to more than ₹ 1,068 crore, he said. Twenty-one MoUs worth ₹ 955.37 crore were signed between the Rajasthan government and private agro companies on May 25 for setting agro-food processing units, mandis, cold chain units, contract farming and dairy farms that will provide employment for more than 28,000 people in the state.

The next GRAM will be held in Udaipur in October and November, said state agricultur­e minister Prabhulal Saini.

Union urban developmen­t minister Venkaiah Naidu and CM Raje inaugurate­d the meet on May 24.

The event was jointly organised by the state government and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The Jaipur Developmen­t Authority (JDA) on Friday seized the Lakshmi Vilas heritage hotel which resulted in it taking possession of a total of around 28 thousand square metre land.

The acquisitio­n happened as per the recent orders of the Supreme Court which had asked the JDA to acquire the property.

The seizing was done by the enforcemen­t team of the JDA at around 8 am on Friday. However, officials said the action was done peacefully.

“We didn’t face any kind of resistance and the entire process of seizing was done peacefully,” said superinten­dent of police (JDA) Rahul Jain.

Along with the Lakshmi Vilas hotel stretched over 18 thousand square meters, it also seized the Kanak Bhawan, golf court and the stable which amount to 3750 and 6,000 square meters.

The hotel was originally the property of erstwhile royal family of Jaipur till 1986, when it was sold to private parties.

A heritage hotel was functionin­g in the area since the past three decades.

Earlier, the Jaipur Developmen­t Authority sent a notice to the Lakshmi Vilas hotel administra­tion, asking them to vacate the property within a period of 10 days.

“We received full cooperatio­n from the other party and the entire seizing process was carried on in a methodical and peaceful way,” said Jain.
