Jaipur’s threesome top arts with 98.4%

CBSE 12TH RESULT Science stream topper from the city scored 98% while the commerce topper scored 97.6%

Three students in Jaipur scored a stellar 98.4% in arts in the class 12 board exams. The toppers– Jayanti Sabadani, Manas Jain and P Vaishnavi Gupta – are from Jayshree Periwal High School.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the senior secondary examinatio­n (Class 12) on Sunday.

Jayanti Sabadani, who scored a 100 in sociology and political science, credits her success to her parents and teachers. The businessma­n’s daughter is fond of debates, poetry, writing, and wants to study English literature at the undergradu­ate level.

“I want to study at University of Delhi (DU) or St Xavier’s College in Mumbai. I want to be a professor,” said Sabadani.

Her classmate Manas Jain, who also scored 98.4% and a 100 in political science, sociology and physical education, wants to study economics at DU and is currently reading Saving Capitalism from the Capitalist­s, a book jointly authored by Raghuram Rajan, former RBI governor, and Luigi Zingales.

An avid badminton and chess player, he is also considerin­g the five-year integrated programme in management at Indian Institute of Management, Indore.

P Vaishnavi Gupta, who shares the top pedestal with Sabadani and Jain, wants to pursue a career in mass media and communicat­ions. She scored 100 in English, sociology and fine arts. Fond of dancing, theatre and writing, she too wants to go to DU or St Xavier’s College for higher studies. Her favourite authors are Sidney Sheldon, Marlon James and Agatha Christie.

In the science stream, Bharat Bhargava from St Xavier’s School topped the city with 98%. Bhargava has already cracked IIT-JEE Mains and has appeared for the IIT-JEE Advanced and is hopeful that he’ll make it through. “I would not have topped without the support of my parents or grandparen­ts,” he said. Bhargava, whose father is a polytechni­c lecturer and mother a government school teacher, wants to become a scientist someday. He scored 100 in informatic­s practices and 99 in chemistry and English.

The commerce topper in Jaipur was Sidharth Bapna from Neerja Mody School who scored 97.6%. Bapna scored 99 out of 100 in accountanc­y and mathematic­s and wants to study economics at DU. Hardik Khandelwal of St Xavier’s School scored 96.4% in the commerce stream.

A total of 10,76,761 students registered for the Class 12 examinatio­ns but only 10,20,762 appeared at 3,504 centres across the country between March 9 and April 29.
