The body of a threeyear-old girl who had fallen into Fatehsagar Lake after a collision between two boats was fished out late Tuesday night, more than 24 hours after the mishap.

The body was seen floating by two youths who informed the authorities following which it was taken out from the water, police said. The girl had the life jacket on. The body had a mark on the neck.

Police said it prima facie looks that the girl sustained severe neck injury in the accident and succumbed to it.

Officials at Amabamata police station said the body was fished out near midnight. It was handed over to the parents after the postmortem examination, they said.

The girl, along with her parents and some others, was enjoying a ride in the lake on a sixseater speed boat when it collided with a 20-seater motor boat Monday evening.

All the occupants of the speed boat fell into the lake. While the others were rescued, the girl went missing, police said.

A rescue operation launched Monday was called off after it got dark.

On Tuesday four divers were pressed into the search and rescue operation but failed to locate the girl or her body.

The victim, identified as Chahak, was a resident of Jaipur and had come to Udaipur on Saturday with her parents for summer vacation.

Meanwhile, noose has tightened around Mohsin, the driver of the 6-seater boat, who has been arrested for negligent driving. Ashraf Khan, the contractor of the boat, had claimed that Mohsin was professionally trained and licensed to drive the speed boat. He had also alleged that other boat was driven by a minor boy who did not have a licence.

As per the police, the footage from the CCTV cameras installed at the lake, it is clear that Mohsin lost control over the 6-seater boat and rammed into the bigger motor boat.
