A horse, whose leg was broken in an accident which left the animal’s owner dead, was left on the accident spot for two days.

The incident took place in Kelwa village of Rajsamand district early on Saturday.

“Yusuf used to provide baggi (horse carriage) for functions and marriages. On Friday, he had taken the horse to a neighbouring village where the horse sustained some injuries. The same evening, he loaded the horse on a loading auto-rickshaw and was on his way to Kelwa when the vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer,” Kelwa assistant sub-inspector Ravinder Singh said.

While Yusuf, who was sitting in front of the loading auto died in the accident, his wife and relatives who were standing with the horse in the back sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Udaipur. The horse also sustained severe injuries and fractured its leg.

The police on Monday said that the family of Yusuf Mohammed (45), the horse’s owner, took the animal with them.

“As the family members were in mourning, they did not come to get the horse. However, we called a veterinary doctor who attended to the horse,” Singh said. A teenager was shot dead allegedly by a retired head constable of CRPF after a heated argument in Dausa district of Rajasthan.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a verbal spat broke out between Ravi Kumar Meena (18) and Laxminarayan Meena (68) over some issue.

Laxminarayan took out his licensed gun and shot at Ravi, SHO Baswa police station Veer Singh said. The teen died on the way to the hospital. The retired constable was detained on Monday, the SHO said.
