ED serves eviction notice to 50 properties
:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served eviction notices to 50 properties in Jaipur and Udaipur in connection with the Syndicate Bank Fraud.
They have been asked to vacate the premises within 10 days, following which the ED will take possession. The list includes 39 properties at the World Trade Park , a popular mall in Jaipur.
The move comes after ED’s provisional attachment order to these properties in December was confirmed by the court. The combined value of the properties is more than ₹100 crore, said senior ED officials on Friday.
“Our provisional attachment notices of December last year have been confirmed by the court and we will soon be taking possession of the premises in Jaipur and Udaipur. Apart from the 39 properties in WTP, there are six commercial and five residential establishments in Udaipur,” said a senior ED official on the condition of anonymity.
ED officials said that ever since it was found that Bharat Bomb, the mastermind, transferred more than ₹78 crore to World Trade Park Ltd after defrauding the bank, the role of Anoop Bartaria, who controls the mall, is also under scanner. “We have also identified properties worth ₹80-90 crore belonging to Shankar Khandelwal, another accused, which could be attached soon. We urge the public to not enter into financial transactions of these properties,” said the official.
The scam involving three Syndicate Bank branches in Jaipur came to light last year in which a few businessmen connived with some bank officials to embezzle more than ₹18,000 crore. HTC
