Gurgaon horror: Woman gang-raped in moving car
A 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car by three men after being abducted from Haryana’s Gurgaon on Monday night, recorded her statement with Noida Police, officials said on Tuesday.
Initially, it was believed the woman was abducted from Sohna but Noida Police later said she was picked near Gurgaon’s MG Road Metro station and taken to Noida and then Greater Noida, in an incident which has put the spotlight back on the lack of safety for women in the national capital and areas surrounding it.
Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Sumit Kuhar, and DCP (East) Deepak Saharan were present at the Sector 29 police station as the woman recorded her statement in the presence of a woman lawyer as per the legal norms. Khirwar said that the matter was under investigation and he will brief the media later.
An official said they got the information about the incident at 3am and immediately took the woman, who was spotted crying in front of Yatharth Hospital under the jurisdiction of Kasna police station, to a hospital for medical examination.
A resident of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur who had come to Sohna for work, the woman said she was walking near her residence in Sohna when she was pulled into a car by the men and assaulted for nearly eight hours. The woman came to Gurgaon 10 to 15 days ago and was living with her family in Sohna area.
She said the men took turns to rape her in the moving car and after driving through Delhi, they reached Greater Noida where they threw her out in a dark spot before escaping.
