Devnani to hold surprise inspection­s

In order to ensure quality education in government schools, state education minister Vasudev Devnani will hold surprise inspection­s from July 1.

After introducin­g many firsts such as parent-teacher meetings, change of uniform, appointing Panchayat education officer – the minister will now be on the move from July 1 to 10. “Our objective is to strengthen the education system in Rajasthan. The government schools are seeing increase in student enrolment, especially in rural areas,” he said

Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2016 reveals that in 2006 (age group 6-14) it was 89.2%, which increased to 95.7% in 2016. In Rajasthan, there are 8.5 million students in 67,137 government schools.

During the 10-day period, all the nine deputy directors of education department, 183 district education officers, 298 block education officers and 10,000 panchayat education officers (PEO) will also be on the field.

Apart from district and block education officers, the PEOs will hold inspection­s and monitor schools in a gram panchayat.

“The surprise visit has been planned to motivate, inspect and monitor school staff and students. During our visit, we will assess progress of ongoing Pravesh Utsav (enrolment fest) concluding on July 10, teachers’ presence, sanitation, mid-day meal etc,” Devnani said.
