Shresth Vashistha from Jaipur secured an AIR 27 in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017. A fan of the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, the Jaipur topper is most going to take admission in the Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi.

“I want to specialize in either cardiac surgery or neurosurgery after my bachelor’s degree in medicine,” Vashistha said.

Son of a government school teacher, Vashistha is an alumnus of Maheshwari Public School and was preparing for the competitive exams at Aakaash coaching institute.

The Pink City bagged another rank in the top 100 with Ajit Singh Pawar securing an all India rank 91 in the exam. An avid football fan and supporter of football club Manchester United, Pawar had earlier told HT that he might go into civil services or maybe even pursue something totally different after his degree in medicine.

The third topper from city, Arushi Narwani, got AIR 104 in NEET. Fond of lawn tennis and swimming, Narwani credits her success to her teachers and parents.

A nine-month-old girl and her mother were killed when a truck hit the bike carrying them near Badpipli here.

The woman has been identified as Seema (26), police said, adding that Shaitan Singh (30), who was driving the twowheeler, escaped. They were returning to their home in Chomu tehsil. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident and a case has been registered against him, police said. HTC
