THE TICKETLESS PASSENGER CLAIMED TO BE FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BUT WAS FOUND TO BE A HOME GUARD FROM MEERUT

A passenger travelling with his family without a ticket in sleeper class of a train on June 23 was beaten up by the railway staff at Jaipur Junction. An enquiry has been ordered by the North Western Railway (NWR) senior officials after a video of the incident went viral.

According to NWR senior officials, a passenger boarded Ashram Express (Delhi-Ahmadabad) on June 23 at Bandikui station with his family.

The co-passengers complained and the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) asked them for a ticket. The ticketless passenger then said that he was from the police department. The TTE told him that he can travel only with a valid ticket and he was asked to get down at Jaipur Junction and was asked for his identity card.

The official said that the person gave his identity card and it was found that he was a home guard from Meerut and was travelling from Bandikui to Ajmer.

The railway staff sent another person to get the Railway Police Force, meanwhile, the ticketless passenger pushed the railway staff and snatched his ID card. Other railway officials tried to overpower him and it led to a scuffle. When the RPF came, the ticketless passenger agreed to pay a penalty.

NWR chief public relation officer Tarun Jain said, “The Jaipur division has been asked to conduct an enquiry into the incident and take suitable action.”
