Accused of rape, absconding govt teacher surrenders
government teacher accused of raping a girl student, who was absconding for the last couple of years, surrendered before a court of an additional chief judicial magistrate in Bharatpur on Tuesday, police said. The court has remanded the accused to police custody.
Rupendra Gaud, a teacher at a government senior secondary school in Kaman, was arrested by police on charges of raping the student for more than three years after blackmailing her, said Deeg police station chief Kanheya Lal.
In June 2015, the girl’s father registered a complaint against Gaud, who was his friend, alleging that he had been raping his daughter over a period of three years, said Lal.
Gaud was blackmailing the girl after shooting an obscene video clip of her when she went to his coaching class in Deeg. He had drugged her and then shot the video on his mobile, the girl’s father said in his complaint.
The accused threatened to upload the video clip on social media as the girl’s parents were planning to get her married. The girl then confided in her parents, police said citing the complaint.
In 2016, the police announced a ₹1,000 reward for information on the accused. The accused was arrested after he surrendered in court, said Lal. “We will present him in court on Wednesday and demand an extension of his remand ,” he said.
The state education department has terminated the accused for his service following the police case.
