GANG STEALING BICYCLES BUSTED IN UDAIPUR, 2 HELD

With the arrest of two persons, the district police claim to have busted a gang involved in the stealing expensive bicycles .

A few stolen bicycles were recovered from the accused, said the Ambamata police. Giving details of the arrests, Chandra Purohit, station house officer, Ambamata police station, said that one Jyotiradit­ya Rajawat had lodged an FIR informing the police about a suspect, who stole a racing bicycle from his house.

Rajawat told the police that his nephew Mahijeet Singh Rathore had already shared a post, along with a snapshot of CCTV footage, on social media highlighti­ng that the racing bicycle was stolen by a decent looking boy, who posed as a student from Hyderabad.

Many people reacted on the post and a few identified the suspect. On the basis of informatio­n provided by one of them, police started a hunt of the accused. “Within a few hours, location of the accused was traced to Sector 3 of Hiran Magri area. We rushed to the area and raided a house where three members of the gang were sitting. The accused tried to flee, but two of them were nabbed in a chase. One of them managed to escape,” Purohit said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kumar Swami Munerkapu, 25, and Manoj Chimla, 25.

The police are on lookout for the third accused, Ajay Cawkar (26). All of them hail from Telangana, the police said.

Police said the accused would roam in posh colonies during daytime posing as salesman to identify the houses with expensive bicycles and lift them finding a suitable opportunit­y.
