DIST HOSPITALS TO HAVE ANNAPURNA RASOI: RAJE

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje has directed all district hospitals in Rajasthan to have Annapurna Rasois or mobile kitchens, providing food to the general public at subsidised rate, stated a press release issued by the chief minister’s office on Wednesday.

Raje, while addressing a meeting of the local self government (LSG) department, said that apart from increasing the number of vans for the mobile kitchen, options must be explored to operate the kitchens from permanent cabins.

The Annapura Rasoi scheme has received a good response from sections of students and labourers, she said, and for the same reason the scheme is being expanded to hospitals to benefit attendants of patients and others in need. The number of mobile vans under the scheme will reach 500 by December 2017, she claimed.

Expressing happiness at the increase in quantity of food being given under the scheme, Raje urged the officials to also improve the quality of food and hygiene. She also asked them to ensure that no food is wasted.

The chief minister also gave directions regarding conservati­on of heritage step-wells in all districts. She ordered the stepwells to be marked out, photograph­ed, renovated, and then a book be published on them.

Furthermor­e, Raje reviewed the work of the LSG officials related to smart street lighting project, heritage conservati­on, Swachh Bharat Mission, waste disposal, door-to-door waste collection and plantation in the city areas. The meeting was attended by urban developmen­t and LSG minister Shrichand Kriplani, ACS urban developmen­t Mukesh Sharma, principal secretary LSG Manjit Singh and other senior officials.
