Arjun Tendulkar practices with women cricketers
While Sachin Tendulkar wished the Indian women’s team good luck ahead of their World Cup final, son Arjun did his bit to help them.
Arjun bowled to the women cricketers at nets at Lord’s for quite some time on Saturday helping them prepare for the big final against hosts England. In a video that has gone viral on social media, he is seen bowling to India’s right-handed middle-order batswoman Veda Krishnamurthy.
The 17-year-old left-arm seamer has bowled to the English men’s team at their nets in recent past. He even injured Jonny Bairstow ahead of their first Test against South Africa earlier this month, hitting him on the toe with a yorker. Sachin owns a property near Lord’s making it easy for his son to drop in for nets easily.
Arjun has played at U-14 and U-16 age group level for Mumbai although not without controversy. While playing for Dhirubhai International Public School, he took eight wickets for 22 runs bowling against Jamnabai Nursing School. He bats lefthanded and scored his maiden century while playing for Khar Gymkhana at the U-14 level.
Sachin had wished the Indian women’s team. “Wishing our #WomenInBlue all the best for the #WWC17Final! We are all cheering for you! Messages of support from my 100MB family!,” he tweeted.
The batting maestro has been tweeting regularly, egging on the team to do well.
