Talentedge’s new digital learning platform uses AI

Gurgaon-based Talentedge, specializing in education technology has introduced a live and interactive digital learning platform using Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine Learning(ML), available on the web and mobile. The new Talentedge platform creates a unified learning environment for learners and teachers, as it streamlines processes and simulates classroom learning using state-of-the-art technology.

Says Aditya Malik, CEO & MD, Talentedge: “Our platform allows us to run classes live, at a home broadband speed and the focus is to replicate the real classroom.” So a digital writing pad substitutes for the good old blackboard, students can collaborate to solve a case study offline, chat in a group on an app and there are chatbots to solve the first level of queries.

Malik started Talentedge about three years ago, and runs online executive courses for professionals by partnering with premier institutions like XLRI and IIM to help executives upgrade their skills.

The platform has also reinforced communication modules through chat bots that enable query resolution of the learners and address mundane but frequent queries, with nominal human intervention.

As part of its AI-powered platform, Talentedge has also launched an AI & ML powered learning app. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms for registered students. This app is aimed at providing an enhanced customised user experience and is able to keep a check on learners i.e. if they are attentive during sessions or have merely switched on the device or even stepped away. It also sends learners notifications to remind them of live classes, assignments and more.

The technology also enables a testing of the sentiment analysis mood of the class. So for instance, every five seconds the camera captures the image of the learner so if he or she is not sitting or has gone for a break, the camera will capture that. The facial recognition also helps gauge the mood of the class.

Another area where Malik focuses on is pedagogy since he realizes that an online class is different from a physical class room in terms of teaching and curricu- lum. So he has baked in elements such as quizzes, case studies and videos to enhance interactivity and engagement. Finally, measuring the learner experience is paramount so Talentedge has introduced three sets of surveys for the learners, one immediately after each class, the second after completion of course and the last one is after three months of the course completion. Malik says the average response is 82% which is promising.

Malik says that they are not competing against companies like Coursera nor are they eyeing the full time programme market. It is the part-time courses taught at MDI or IIM, what is referred to as ‘Executive Education’ in India that Talentedge is focusing on. Talentedge’s ability to recreate classroom type interactions in the virtual world using AI helps them do this efficiently and effectively.
