THE ARRESTED MEN HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS MOHAMMED SHAKEEL, SANJAY, RAVI SHARMA AND BUNTY, ALL OF WHOM ARE RESIDENTS OF ALIGARH

The special operations group (SOG) of the Rajasthan police arrested four men on Friday who duped people by promising that they would double their money, said officials.

The police said that those arrested also claimed to supply three times of the value of the legit money in fake currency notes. Inspector general of SOG Dinesh MN said that those arrested would insert bogus notes in the bundles to fool their customers who had paid them in the hope of doubling their money.

The arrested men have been identified as Mohammed Shakeel, Sanjay, Ravi Sharma and Bunty, all of whom are residents of Aligarh.

“We have found 43 bundles of currency notes from the men. In 21 bundles, blank paper had been inserted in most of the notes apart from the ones on top of the bundle. The accused used to dupe people by giving them blank paper,” said a SOG official.

The police said that they have also confiscated fake notes from the men which are issued by the ‘Children Play Bank’ of India.

“Those arrested also have other cases of cheating registered against them and we suspect that they used to work with this modus operandi and had duped people earlier as well,” said MN.

Officials said that the arrested men would be interrogated to know more about their involvement in previous cases.

“The accused had come to Jaipur to facilitate a money exchange of fake currency notes worth ₹15 lakh and after we got information, they were arrested,” said a SOG official.
