Cops tie rakhis to students, send security message among women

Much like the bond between a brother and a sister, the Jaipur police too protect women in the city

The Jaipur police on Saturday celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to students of different educationa­l institutio­ns across the city as part of the police commission­erate’s community outreach programme.

City police commission­er Sanjay Agarwal along with other top city police officials visited the Seth Anandi Lal Poddar School for the deaf and mute and tied rakhis to the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Agarwal promised students that the Jaipur police will always be there for their safety.

“Much like the bond between a brother and a sister, the Jaipur police too protect women in the city. Whenever you face problems, the Jaipur police will always be there for your assistance,” he said.

Last year too, the Jaipur police organsied a similar programme and reached out to thousands of youngsters in the city to spread awareness about the different initiative­s undertaken by the police. Children will be taken to a tour of historic places in Amer in Jaipur by the city police to increase their knowledge about the rich history and heritage of the city. The children organized a cultural programme on the occasion which included a dance performanc­e.

A number of top city police officials, including additional commission­er of police (crime) Prafulla Kumar, additional commission­er of police (law and order) Nitin Deep Blaggan, deputy commission­er of police (east) Kunwar Rashtradee­p were among those present during the celebratio­n. Officials said personnel from police stations under the Jaipur commission­erate, will also tie rakhis to students in educationa­l institutio­ns.
