A case has been registered at the Toonga police station against two teachers of a private school for allegedly raping a Class 10 student about 2-3 months back.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ramphool Meena and Murali Sharma, teachers of a private school in Toonga area.

“It has been alleged in the complaint that the men raped the student inside the school premises around 2-3 months back. An FIR was lodged on Friday morning,” said Ravindra Singh Shekhawat, station house officer, Toonga police station.

The police said the teachers have been booked under section 376-D (gang rape) of IPC along with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“The medical test of the girl has been done and the reports are being awaited. Further investigation is on after which the decision to arrest the accused would be taken,” said the police.

This is the second such incident reported within a week as a 38-year-old teacher was arrested on August 11 for allegedly molesting his 10-year-old girl student. The girl had gone to his house to study when he allegedly touched her inappropriately. The accused was later arrested by the Bajaj Nagar police.

A 14-year-old girl had also recently written a letter to the principal of her school about being abused by her stepfather.

Data from the Rajasthan home department has revealed that in the last three years, 56 cases of sexual violence against girls by teachers in schools have been registered in the state till early this year. It also indicates that of the 55 teachers, who have been accused, none has been convicted and five have been acquitted. At present, 36 such cases are pending in courts.

The data also revealed that 16 such cases have remained inconclusive after the final reports were submitted by the police.
