THE WOMAN ALLEGED THAT SHE COMPLAINED TO THE HOTEL’S HR OFFICIALS, BUT INSTEAD OF ACTING AGAINST THE SECURITY MANAGER, THEY SACKED HER

A 33-year-old woman executive at a hotel in Delhi’s Aerocity has accused the hotel’s security manager of molesting and trying to disrobe her on her birthday late last month.

The crime allegedly occurred inside the hotel’s CCTV room and was captured by a CCTV camera. The woman alleged that she complained to HR officials, but instead of acting against the security manager, they sacked her.

Not willing to let go of the matter, the woman approached the police with a complaint early this month, three days after the alleged crime.

The security manager was arrested on Friday.

Dependra Pathak, chief spokesperson of Delhi Police, said that the accused had been examined and the statement of the woman was taken after she approached the police.

“Prima facie, the culpability on the part of the accused was found and he was arrested. Further investigation has been taken up,” said Pathak, special commissioner of police.

The victim, a married woman, works on the front desk of the hotel. She has told police that the hotel’s security manager had been pressurising her to establish physical relations with him for quite sometime, but she had been rejecting his advancements.

One evening late last month, on her birthday, the security chief approached her and offered to buy her a gift on the occasion. When she refused the offer, he allegedly pulled her by her saree in front of another employee.

CCTV footage showed the security officer seated on a wheeled-chair and suddenly pulling her by her saree. But she managed to keep him away after a very brief tussle.

The woman alleged that when she left, the man accosted her some distance in his car and even tried to pull her into his car.

The woman said that once she got rid of the security manager, she called the hotel’s assistant manager of the human resource department. “But it turns out that the woman was fired and the accused continues to remain on the job,” said a police officer.

The Hyderabad police on Friday arrested a 40-year old man who allegedly raped a 20-year old maid servant from New Delhi at gunpoint at a hotel in the upscale Banjara Hills in the city in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police also arrested three others who assisted the accused in committing the offence. All the four hail from Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police, the maid servant, a resident of Mahipalpur in Delhi, accompanied Payal, daughter of her employer and her friend Ramu to Hyderabad on August 5. They checked into a hotel in Banjara Hills. While Payal and her friend stayed in the second floor, the maid was alone in the fourth floor.
