JKK TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL AID TO ARTISTES
The Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) will provide financial grants to theatre artistes and encourage more women directors in the industry and generate innovative ideas.
A national-level jury of theatre experts constituted by the Kendra will be select three plays of young directors and will be given a financial grant of ₹1 lakh for the development and production of the play.
For being eligible for the young theatre directors’ grant, the directors must be between 18 to 35 years of age. He or she should have a minimum experience of three years in th eatre direction.
The last date to send the proposals is September 20, 2017. The selected plays will be staged twice at the JKK.
A grant of ₹6 lakh will be given to a senior director or theatre organisation. The play of the selected theatre artiste or organization, will be staged thrice at the JKK, including once at Navras. The director should have a minimum of five years of experience in direction to be eligible to send in their entries in the category. The last date to send the proposals is September 29, 2017.
The national-level theatre workshop, which was held in June at the JKK in collaboration with the National School of Drama, Delhi, three women directors were selected by the jury and were a grant of ₹ 1 lakh each.
The selected women directors are Mumal Tanwar Vagmi Raghav from Rajasthan and Ambika Kamal from Chandigarh.
