People belonging to unreserved classes on Saturday threatened to resume their agitation if the state government does not grant them 14% reservation in jobs and education within three months.

The demand comes more than a week after the Rajasthan government gave reservation to Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur districts under the other backward classes category.

Pandit Ram Kishan, patron of Anarakshit Varg Sangharsh Samiti, accused the BJP government of not fulfilling its promise that people of unreserved classes will get 14% reservation.

“People from unreserved classes will gather at a rally to hand over memorandum to district collector Narendra Kumar Gupta addressed to chief minister on September 4 for their demands over quota,” Ram Kishan, also a former MP, said at a press conference in Bharatpur.

The samiti said they would be forced to begin agitation afresh if their demands were not met in next three months.

The BJP had included the issue of 14% reservation to unreserved classes in its election manifesto, they said, adding that as part of the agitation, they will block all the road and rail routes in the district.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje cheated us over 14% quota for unreserved classes although she had assured us to give quota before the last assembly election, said Kaushlendra Sharma, secretary of the samiti.

The BJP government in the state has completed three and half years but failed to take any action to give quota for unreserved castes -- Brahamin, Veshya, Rajpoot, Kayastha, Sindhi, Punjabi and others, he said.

Social activist Girdhari Tiwari said BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari had tabled a proposal in the state assembly in 2015 for 14% quota on the basis of financial and educational background for unreserved castes.
