A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped and dumped into a drain in Jharkhand’s Bagbera on Friday. She was later admitted to the Sadar Hospital.

While police have arrested Abhay Yadav, one of the four accused, a massive hunt is on for the absconders. The incident took place when the victim was on her way home in Gandhinagar from her maternal uncle’s residence in Ranidih. On the way, she was intercepted by four local youths whom she identified as Abhay Yadav, Sonu Mahato, Banti and Amit.

Anticipating their ulterior motives, she changed her path but the four started following her and apprehended her midway. Soon, she was in their captivity and three out of the four miscreants raped her.

The miscreants dumped her into a drain and fled from the spot.

As she regained consciousness, she screamed for help and drew the attention of people. They rushed to her rescue and took her to Sadar Hospital where the doctors confirmed rape. The girl’s mother is a daily wage worker in Bagbera while her father works in Bengaluru. The mother was informed about the incident and one of the accused was arrested.

The victim said except Sonu the other three raped her. “They threatened to behead me if I raised an alarm ,” the victim told police. DSP (law and order), Vimal Kumar said the girl was doing fine and helping them identify the culprits.

Chairperson of Jharkhand State Women’s Commission Kalyani Sharan said, “Police have been asked to take strict action.”
