Fish contractor shoots dead youth over minor tiff

A 21-year-old man, Goppa alias Gopal Kalbeia of Karanpur area of Vallabh Nagar block of Udaipur, was killed in a firing incident on Sunday morning after Lalit Kumar, a fishing contractor opened fire at him after a heated argument.

According to the station house officer of Vallabh Nagar police, Ghanshyam Singh Devra, an FIR has been filed against four people who are on the run.

Victim Gopal had gone to the Karanpura Talab (pond) where he got engaged in a brawl with the fishing contractor of the pond, Lalit Kumar. Kumar along with his three other associates Lahri Lal, Vinit and Lupchand started beating Gopal and Lalit, who was carrying a 22 bore gun, suddenly opened fire at the victim from point blank range which resulted in Gopal’s spot death.The accused fled the scene immediatel­y after the incident.

SHO Ghanshyam Singh said that he along with his team rushed to the scene and launched an investigat­ion into the matter. The body of the victim was shifted to Udaipur mortuary and was handed over to the family after the autopsy.

Vellaram Kalbelia, father of the victim has filed an FIR against Lalit and more than three of his associates. A manhunt has been launched by the police for the arrest of the accused. However, what led to the arguments is yet to be ascertaine­d.
