Bus conductor held for murdering 8yearold boy in Gurgaon school

A tide of protest had engulfed Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu after news spread that Anitha, state topper in class XII, had ended her life after failing to secure a seat in any medical college under NEET. Anitha, has now become the face of the fight against NEET. Even Tamil superstars Rajnikant and Kamal Hassan expressed grief over Anitha’s suicide.

Anti -NEET protests in Tamil Nadu have snowballed into a social movement. Several political parties, activists and student groups have been protesting in different parts of Tamil Nadu asking that the state board exam results be used as the parameter for medical college admissions.

A bus conductor was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of a second grader at a prominent private school in Gurgaon. The eightyear-old boy was found outside a school toilet, crawling and bleeding profusely before he died.

Sources in Gurgaon police said the suspect may have attempted to sexually assault the child.

Deputy commission­er of police (south Gurgaon) Ashok Kumar Bakshi earlier said they received a call from the school authoritie­s around 8am.

“The victim struggled and crawled outside the toilet when a fellow student noticed him in a pool of blood,” said Bakshi. He was rushed to a private hospital in Gurgaon where he was declared dead.

The boy, Pradyuman, was dropped at school by his father. Whe he reached home he was told by his wife that there was an emergency involving their son.

The incident sparked protests by parents, two of whom were arrested for vandalisin­g the school property. Several others held a sit-in protest at the police commission­er’s office.

Pradyuman’s sister studies in Class 5 in the same school.
