SDM to probe into violence, arson: DCP
The Rajasthan police Saturday asked the sub-divisional magistrate, Jaipur, to initiate an enquiry into the violence and arson in Ramganj late Friday evening in which one person was killed and several others injured.
Deputy commissioner of police (north), Jaipur, Satyendra Singh, said they have written a letter to the SDM.
According to National Human Rights Commission guidelines, a magisterial probe is ordered if a death happens in course of a police action. Also, the post mortem has to be carried out by a medical board.
The body of 22-year old Mohammad Raees is lying in the mortuary at the SMS Hospital.
SMS Hospital spokesperson Dr SS Yadav said that the hospital was ready to conduct the postmortem but the family members were reluctant to get it done unless their demands were met.
“We can proceed with the post-mortem only when the family of the deceased gives consent. It will be done under camera by a medical board,” said Yadav.
Talking about the incident, the DCP said that it has been alleged that a couple was shoved by a policeman and when the couple came to the police station to lodge a complaint, they were followed by a mob.
“What the intentions of the mob were, and what transpired then, is under investigation,” he added.
Police conducted flag march on Saturday and is also using drones for effective vigilance and maximum monitoring. The DCP refrained from commenting till when the curfew or the internet ban will prevail.
