Close all liquor shops: Vishwas
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national executive Kumar Vishwas on Tuesday said that his party would launch a movement for shutting down liquor shops in Rajasthan. The poet-turned-politician announced this at a felicitation programme for victorious candidates of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), AAP’s student wing in the recently concluded students’ elections in the state.
Vishwas said that people might want to know the reason behind his party wanting to shut down the liquor shops in Rajasthan when it has not done the same in Delhi. “We have opened Mohalla clinics offering fine health care in every corner of Delhi, improved the government schools, made water free up to 700 litres daily and slashed the electricity bills by half if the consumption is under 400 units,” he said. In whichever village Raje is able to do that, his party will not demand the closure of the liquor shops, said Vishwas.
In addition, the AAP leader said that the party will erect its organisational structure by November for the assembly elections in 2019. “For the first time, AAP is offering alternative politics to the farmers, students, youth and women of the state.” He also levelled attack against the incumbent chief minister and said that Raje’s dynasty mindset is not with the farmers of Rajasthan and she does not know about the pain of common people.
The key issues on which the party will focus in the run-up to assembly elections in Rajasthan will be the issues of farmers, unemployment, corruption, and electricity bills apart from shutting down liquor shops.
Vishwas congratulated the CYSS leaders for their performance in the elections. According to AAP leaders, CYSS had fielded 83 candidates across colleges and universities in the state out of which 12 has won the post of college president. Although none of the candidates won any post in any the state university apex election, 28 candidates won the posts in college elections, excluding class representatives. “Our candidates won as president in two colleges in Ganganagar and one each in Sikar, Jaipur, Alwar and Ajmer,” said Devendra Shastri, a spokesperson of AAP.
