State Congress chief Sachin Pilot on Wednesday demanded a high-level probe into the death of two people in the Ramganj violence.

Alleging administrative lapses in the Ramganj violence, he said that a high-level probe should be conducted and accused must be punished.

After meeting the family members of the deceased, Pilot said the government should give adequate compensation to the victims’ families and ensure that peace and unity is maintained in Ramganj.

On Friday midnight, an alleged dispute between some policemen and a couple turned violent. An agitated mob torched vehicles and damaged nearly two dozen vehicles.

Pilot also met the protesting aanganbadi workers outside the state women and child development directorate, and demanded that the government should fulfill its promises them.

“Since the last 12 days, the workers are protesting but it is unfortunate that they are being neglected,” he said.

“During the elections, the BJP made promises to aanganbadi workers, which they should had fulfilled but the honorarium has not been increased nor have they been included in the government services.” Pilot said despite working from morning till evening, the honorarium anganbadi workers receive is less than the minimum wages. Many states have started giving a respectable honorarium to the workers, so their demand should also be fulfilled, he said.

He further assured the protesting workers that the Congress in the coming assembly session will raise their demands and create pressure on the government.

Pilot was accompanied by state party vice-president Archana Sharma and Jaipur district Congress chief Pratap Singh Khachariywas.
