Mega cleanliness drive in Bharatpur on Sept 16
A drive will be launched to make Bharatpur clean on September 16, district collector Narendra Kumar Gupta said on Wednesday.
Apart from locals, all government officials, employees, municipal corporation councillors and the MLA will participate in the cleanliness drive, Gupta told reporters. “The initiative will spread awareness among people to clean their cities.”
In his Mann ki Baat broadcast on August 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for cleanliness programmes in cities.
“Every man and woman has been urged to clean their street first and then public places. Government employees of all departments have been informed to clean their offices and campuses, and then other places on that day,” Gupta said.
“Action will be taken to remove milk dairies and cattle from the city. Locals are not using dustbins in 60% places of the city. People will be convinced to dump garbage in dustbins only.”
Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation will provide 50 tractors, 10 JCB machines and 200 volunteers for the drive.
The Urban Improvement Trust will give 10 tractors and two JCB machines, and 3000 volunteers from Apna Ghar institute will participate in the campaign.
