Ever since Irrfan Khan recreated Paan Singh Tomar’s life, it’s been open season for biopics on India’s sports stars. The list will grow by one when the life and times of Jhulan Goswami is chronicled.

Over the past five years, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Azhar’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, a film that skirted the sticky portions of Sachin Tendulkar’s life, one that narrated ‘untold’ stories about MS Dhoni have had varying levels of success. Also in the works is Shraddha Kapoor playing Saina Nehwal and Dhyan Chand being brought alive in reel life.

THE FILM WILL BE MADE IN HINDI AND IS AIMED FOR RELEASE AROUND THE WORLD T20 NEXT YEAR.

The announcement on Goswami was made in the presence of the world’s highest wicket-taker in women’s ODIs at noon on Tuesday because the hour was auspicious, according to Boria Majumdar who compered the short programme at the Fanattic Sports Museum here on Tuesday. Chakdah Express, after where she is from in West Bengal, is a possible title, said the film’s maker Susanta Das.

The film will be made in Hindi and is being aimed for release around the World T20 next year which starts in the West Indies on November 2. The deal has been struck by Dunamis Sportainment which now manages Goswami. Asked whether there is anything about her life that is still unknown, Goswami said yes.

Das was more vehement in his assertion that the film will go ‘backstage’ sharing information about the former India captain who has played two 50-over World Cup finals.

It hasn’t yet been decided who will play Goswami said Das, adding that it is likely to be firmed up by the end of October.
