Smartphone apps for being productive

The demands of a modern day workplace require users to be connected and ready to deliver all the time. For profession­als on move there are plenty of smartphone apps which can help users collaborat­e with team members, type long documents in lesser time and stream smartphone content on a bigger screen.

TYPING FASTER

Modern day keyboard apps are designed to make you more productive. Google’s Gboard offers the option to increase the size of keys and type through voice commands. Microsoft’s SwiftKey uses AI to understand the context in what is typed to provide more accurate text prediction­s and auto correction options to users when they are typing. It focuses on a user’s writing style and factors in the entire sentence and not just a few words. Gboard also offers the option to search, translate and share content from the keyboard itself. Microsoft’s Keyboard for Excel is designed to help users enter data in an excel sheet faster. It offers a 10-key number layout for faster number entry and has tab key for quick navigation between columns.

NOTE TAKING

Typing on smartphone can be a lot more comfortabl­e if you have the right document or note taking app. The ability to increase font size, alignment, auto correction and dictionary are some of the tools which can come in handy for profession­als on move. Google’s Keep is tailormade for short notes. It card style interface makes it easy for users to find their notes. It syncs all saved notes allowing users to access them on any device. For typing longer documents, you can try Microsoft’s Word app. You can save your documents on cloud and access them on any device.

CONNECTING SMARTPHONE TO PC OR TV

Apps such as ShareIt allow users to wirelessly connect their PC to their smartphone. With it User can transfer a file, presentati­on, or a video to a PC instantly. The other advantage of it is that it allows one to use smartphone as a controller to the PC to change the slides in a PPT presentati­on. In case you want to cast your phone’s content on a smart TV, you can try the All Connect app. It can connect to any smart TV on the same WiFi network. You can connect an ordinary TV too with apps such as Google Home, if the TV has a Chromecast connected to it.

COLLABORAT­ION ON THE GO

For users like to collaborat­e with team members on the go, apps such as Kaizala can come in handy. It is designed for Indian users and works even on slower networks.

Users can connect with team members, partners and even customers over group chats. Participan­ts can also share photos, videos and documents with them in real time. Users can also create an assignment in the app, conduct a quick poll between members, provide feedback and request the location of the participan­ts.
