The social justice and empowerment department will launch the second phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Differently Abled campaign from Wednesday. Around 7.70 lakh differently-abled people had registered themselves in the first phase, which lasted from June 1 till September 24.
“Rajasthan is probably the first state to have started such a campaign in the country. The campaign will help government collate data for the disabled in the state,” department minister Arun Chaturvedi said.
He added that till date 7.70 lakh people with disabilities have registered with the government.
Chaturvedi said that chief minister Vasundhara Raje will launch the second phase on Wednesday. In the second phase —from September 27 to December 12 — the differently-abled will provide medical certificates and unique identity (UID) cards.
Earlier, the disabled were categorised into seven categories, which has been increased to 21 by the central government. They will accordingly provide artificial limbs, equipment and assistance.
In the second phase, differently-abled people, who are registered under the first phase and are suffering from blindness, low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disability and autism, will be given medical certificates and UID cards. Whereas from November 1 to December 12, the rest 16 categories of disabilities such as those with mental illnesses, cerebral palsy, chronic neurological conditions, acid attack victims etc will be taken care of.
“Those registered under the first phase will be given online certificates and people with 40% and above disability will be provided UID during phase-II. With these cards they can avail benefit across India,” said Chaturvedi.
The minister said that the third phase will be launched from December 12 to March 31, where they will be provided artificial limbs, equipment and assistance. “The state has also made a separate portal for the differentlyabled, where all the data will be maintained.”
The top five districts identified with the maximum number of disabled in the state till date are Alwar (46326), Nagaur (36651), Pali (36224), Kota (28896) and Dholpur (28828).
