Four of interstate gang that robbed commuters after offering lift held

Bharatpur police Friday arrested four members of an inter-state gang that used to rob travelers on national highways after offering them lift in cars. The four were arrested from a jail in Pali on a production warrant and would be presented in a court Saturday.

As per the police, the accused have confessed to have been involved in a dozen incidents of loots on Agra-Jaipur NH-21 under Halena police station area.

Superinten­dent of police, Bharatpur, Anil Kumar Tank said after several cases of loot on national highways were reported, police teams led by additional SP Satish Chandra Jangid were formed to nab the culprits.

Station house officer, Halena police station, Balveer Singh Kasva said the arrested accused have confessed carrying out loots in Halena, Sewar and Bhusawar areas of Bharatpur and Mahwa and Mahndipur Balaji in Dausa. They also confessed to several robbing commuters in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi after offering them lift in cars.

Pali police had arrested them in connection some case and Bharatpur police arrested them from Pali jail on production warrant, the SHO added.

The accused have been identified as Rajeev Meena, Manveer Singh Jatav and Vishnu Kumar Jatav of Bharatpur and Chetan Kumar of Jalore.
