AHMEDABAD:The BEFORE ELECTIONS IN GOA AND PUNJAB, THE AAP HAD ANNOUNCED THAT IT WILL CONTEST ALL 182 SEATS IN GUJ

Aam Admi Party (AAP) launched its Gujarat poll campaign Monday with a road show through Ahmedabad city. The state will go for assembly elections at the end of this year.

The party, led by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had after a poor show in FebruaryMarch assembly elections in Goa and Punjab, declared that it would avoid a contest in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah’s home state to focus energies on Delhi.

That decision however, has changed and party this week is also likely to announce 21 candidates in the first list.

Gujarat has total 182 assembly segments. Before elections in Goa and Punjab, the AAP had announced to contest on all 182 seats. “The AAP’s campaign has began with road show. The entourage is 5 km long’’, said party spokesman Harshil Naik. Delhi cabinet minister Gopal Rai led the show. The show, said Naik, had 1000 cars, 700 bikes, 200 autorickshaws and 10 motorised campaign raths.

More than 5,000 workers joined the rally with the mission “BJP Hatao, Parivartan Lao(remove BJP, bring in change).” The show which began from Naroda area, which was severely affected in 2002 riots, will end at Sabarmati riverfront.

“BJP’s ego has gone even bigger than Mount Everest. Not a single work today is being done bythegovernmentwithoutbride. And when any community and group has tried to raise the voice, they have been treated with bul- lets and batons’’, said Rai.
