Prime Minister Narender Modi will kickoff the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign in poll-bound Himachal from Bilaspur on Tuesday with the ‘Abhar’ rally.

The rally assumes significance, as the saffron party, that lost to infighting between the party’s vanguard leaders former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Shanta Kumar in 2012, has put in all its might to regain power.

It has set a mission of winning more than 50 seats in the Himachal and for the past year, has been running a focused campaign in the state.

The party is depending on Modi’s charisma to swing votes in their favour this time.

The rally in Bilaspur is the second mega rally after BJP national President Amit Shah adressed a ‘Yuva Hunkar’ rally in Kangra last week .

On his trip to the state, PM Modi will also lay foundation stones for an All India institute of medical sciences (AIIMS) campus at Bilaspur and an Indian Institute of Information technology (IIIT) campus in Una.

He will also inaugurate a steel plant at Kandrori in Kangra district.

“BJP-led central government has announced several schemes for Himachal Pradesh. We are organizing Aabhar rally to express gratitude towards prime Minister,” said Pawan Rana BJP's organizational Secretary.

The central government has also announced 61 national highways for the state in line with its accusations against the Virbhadra Singh-led state government of delaying preparations for construction of roads.

The party also started the second phase of its campaign ‘Hisab Maange Himachal’ on Sunday.
