‘Visit hospitals to learn how to avert tragedies’

- Ramesh Babu letters@hindustantimes.com

There is no scope for political violence in a democracy but unfortunately Kerala, God’s own land, is witnessing politically sponsored violence.

YOGI ADITYANATH,

Uttar Pradesh chief minister

Vijayan over the political violence in the state.

As many as 120 BJP workers, 84 in Kannur alone, have been killed in the state since 2001 with 14 of them in the chief minister’s home town since he took over the reigns last year, the BJP has alleged.

The ruling CPI(M) took a dig at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who is in Kerala to take part in the Jan Raksha Yatra, advising him to visit some government hospitals in the state and learn how to avert tragedies.

In August, at least 70 children lost their lives in BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur, the CM’s constituency, after oxygen supply was allegedly cut.

“We invite the UP chief minister to visit Kerala hospitals to learn how to run government hospitals effectively,” tweeted the party. Some workers even put up posters, inviting Adityanath to visit hospitals. Several party leaders, including general secretary Sitaram Yuchury, took to Twitter and asked the UP CM to “also bring other BJP leaders and CMs who can learn from the state which always rejected the BJP”.
