Dawood, Anees named in third case against Kaskar
: Thane police on Wednesday added the names of gangster Dawood Ibrahim and Anees Ibrahim as accused in the third case of extortion filed against Iqbal Kaskar and his aides.
The police arrested Kaskar, the brother of Dawood Ibrahim, on September 18 for extorting a developer in Thane. He was booked in two other extortion cases, the latest pertaining to a plot in Gorai.
Kaskar, who was deported from the United Arab Emirates in 2003, is said to be operating his brother’s real estate business in the city, the police said.
During interrogation, Kaskar told the police he got support from his brother Dawood and Anees, suspected to be in Pakistan, in the Gorai case.
It was in the late night when Thane police mentioned underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and his brother Anees’s names in the third extortion case from a builder over land dispute at Gorai in Mumbai.
According to the police, Kaskar and his two aides extorted ₹3 crore from a builder over a

32-acre plot in Gorai.
Abhishek Trimukhe, deputy commissioner of police, Thane crime branch, said, “We have added them as accused. Further investigation is on.”
A police officer from Thane commissionerate said the complainant was in a dispute with another builder, who bought the plot from him two years ago.
”After a year, the complainant realised the market value of the land had increased, so he started to ask for ₹4 crore from the builder. The latter then approached Kaskar to solve the issue,” the officer said.
According to the police, Kaskar and his aides made a fake land deed and told the complainant they now owned the land. They subsequently extorted ₹3 crore from him, the police said. When the former realised the fake, he approached the police.
