Piped gas project for Alwar, Jaipur likely to take off soon
CLEAN ENERGY CM writes to Centre for rights for city gas distribution to RSGL JAIPUR:
Rajasthan’s proposed clean energy projects are closer to implementation with chief minister Vasundhara Raje writing to Union petroleum minister DharmendraPradhantoprovide exclusive rights for city gas distribution for Jaipur andAlwarto Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL).
Once the rights are received, work will begin on piped natural gas project for domestic supply in Jaipur and also for commercial and industrial supply in the region, officials said.
Piped natural gas will replace LPGcylindersinhouseholdsand it will also be supplied to commercial establishments, including hotels and industrial clusters. “The recent Supreme Court’s ban on the use of furnace oil and pet coke by industrial units has starved the smaller units of fuel in Bhiwadiandother industrial clusters in the region,” an RSGL official, who did not want to be named, said.
“While a part of infrastructure is ready, it will take about a year to start supplying gas to the smaller units in Bhiwadi once the rights are granted,” the official told HT.
The pipeline infrastructure for supplying PNGtoJaipurresi- dents will take about twoyearsto complete, the official said.
Once the rights are received, the CNG station at Kukas near Jaipur will get connected to the supply grid, making it ‘online.’
At present, tankers are used forsupplyinggasfromtheKukas CNG station. The RSGL is a joint venture between Gail Gas Ltd and Rajasthan State Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
The RSGL has completed the CNGcorridorbetweenDelhiand Jaipur and is taking up project facilities for opening up the CNG corridor between Kota-Jaipur and Kota-Mumbai.
At a meeting called by princi- pal secretary (mines and petroleum) Aparna Arora at Bhiwadi onWednesday,discussionswere held on providing clean fuel to industries after ban on use of pet coke and furnace oil. The RSGL was asked to prepare a business plan for availability of the fuel.
The company is also executing a piped gas project in Kota and aims to provide 3,000 domestic connections, 24 industrial connections and nine commercial connections by financial year 2017-18 in the first phase.

The first unit in the ceramic hub
of Ghilot industrial area, Global Ceramics Ltd, will begin operations from November 15.
The unit will be using gas as fuel supplied by RSGL.
Other units, including Hindware Ltd and The Jaquar group, are also in the pipeline, officials said.
