MAN HANGS SELF AFTER POSTING SUICIDE NOTE ON WHATSAPP
debt-ridden man hanged himself in Devri area of Baran district after posting his suicide note on social networking site WhatsApp, in which he accused two contractors of duping him of ₹24 lakh, police said on Saturday.
Locals and family members searched for Kalicharan Mehta (42) after seeing the suicide note on WhatsApp on Friday night. Mehta was found hanging from a tree in Beelkhera Maal Road area.
Police reached the spot and took the body to Baran for postmortem.
Mehta wrote in his note that contractors Shivraj Shaktawat and Madhusudan Malav of Kota had to give him ₹24 lakh for a construction work, but they did not pay him the amount, police said. He also said in the note that growing debts forced him to take the extreme step.
Mehta addressed his suicide note to the Baran district collector and SP, Devri SDM, and station house officer (SHO) of Kasbathana police station.
On the complaint of Mehta’s family members, Kasbathana police lodged a case under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code against the two contractors, SHO Mahendra Singh Devra said.
In the suicide note, Mehta urged police to recover the money from the two contractors and give it to his wife and children.
Initially the family members refused to accept Mehta’s body from the police, demanding that the two contractors be arrested. They later accepted the body after police assured them of action against the accused, Devra said.
Police are investigating the case.
