CIVIL SERVICE COACHING CENTRE ALLEGEDLY PROVIDING SCIENTIFIC HELP TO KARIM DURING HIS CHEATING ATTEMPT

: The Tamil Nadu police on Saturday arrested two men from Kerala capital for allegedly assisting a probationary IPS officer cheat during the civil services exams in Chennai earlier in the week.

P Jamshad and Shareeb Khan, the manager and director of a civil service coaching centre, were held for allegedly providing scientific support to tainted officer Safeer Karim during his cheating attempt.

Police said Karim had revealed their role in the fraud during investigation. The duo was later taken to Tamil Nadu for more questioning.

Kerala’s Karim was caught using electronic gadgets, including a spy cam and mobile, while giving the national-level exam at Chennai’s Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School.

During questioning, Karim reportedly told the police that he was influenced by Malyalam movie Bharatchandran IPS and Sanjay Dutt- starrer Munnabhai MBBS to carry out the fraud.

Karim, who cleared the civil services examination in 2014 with 112th rank, was made a part of the Indian Police Service (IPS) but he appeared for the main examination this year to improve his rank and get into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

He was also conducting civil service coaching classes in three states — Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
