Dengue: Lokayukta seeks report from govt officials

-

Lokayukta Justice SS Kothari has taken cognizance of lack of arrangement for patients suffering from dengue and efforts to curb the spread of the disease by state health department.

An official at Lokayukta office, requesting anonymity said, as per media reports the number of people suffering from dengue is increasing and the hospitals are flooded with patients. Treatment is not being delivered due to the unavailability of beds. The government and local bodies have not taken adequate measure to check the disease. Citing media reports, he said, of 3,600 patients tested positive, 215 have died.

Lokayukta prima facie found negligence on part of public servants, who did not follow the guidelines issued for treatment and prevention of dengue. The Lokayukta has sought report from chief secretary, principal secretary health and local bodies.

The department has been asked to submit the report by November 28. HTC
