‘Modi changed the entire Rafale deal to benefit one bizman’
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale fighter aircraft agreement and asked the media why it does not question him for allegedly changing the “entire deal” to benefit one businessman.
Gandhi was referring to Anil Ambani, whose Reliance Defence, a company with “nil experience in aerospace”, has signed a deal with French firm Dassault Aviation for the supply of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft.
Gandhi also asked the media why no questions were being posed to the prime minister on Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah, whose company’s reported revenue jumped from ~50,000 to over ~80 crore in a year after the Modi government came to power.
“I answer all your questions, whatever you ask me. Why don’t you question Prime Minister Modi on the Rafale deal, on Amit Shah’s son? Why don’t you question
NEW DELHI:
the prime minister who changed the entire Rafale deal to help a businessman?” he asked.
He was speaking to reporters after the meeting of the newly formed All India Unorganised Workers Congress (AIUWC).
Earlier this week, the Congress accused the government of compromising national interest and security while promoting “crony capitalism” and causing a loss to the public exchequer.
The Congress alleged that the government neglected the interests of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It also alleged that the aircraft were being purchased at much higher rates than what was previously decided.
Reliance Defence dubbed the allegations as “baseless”.
