- Sachin Saini Sachin.saini@hindustantimes.com

The post mortem of the alleged cow smuggler killed in a shootout with the police in Alwar early Thursday has been deferred to Saturday, after doctors went on mass leave on Friday while the family demanded a fair probe and compensation.

Superintendent of police, Alwar, Rahul Prakash said, “The post mortem will be conducted on Saturday as doctors were on mass leave today. We are working to nab the others involved.” Taleem (24) was killed in a shootout with police while he and half a dozen accomplices were allegedly smuggling cows from Alwar.

The post mortem could not be done on Thursday as it was late and Taleem’s family had returned to Nuh, Haryana, threatening they would not take the body till a “fair” investigation is conducted. However, on Friday they returned and met Prakash and agreed to accept the body if their demands were met.

“We have demanded that a fair probe be conducted of the incident, which should be done outside the district and compensation to family members of the deceased,” said Ramzan Choudhary, an activist and president of the All India Mewati Samaj who led a delegation which met the SP.

He claimed that the SP told them that efforts would be made to fulfill their demands. Taleem’s family members, who arrived at the government hospital, expressed ignorance of his involvement in cow smuggling.
